Hmmm. Sounds like Pride is what it wants to be but it's actually more of a fear. What do you think of these three possibles:

allodoxaphobia - fear of other people's judgment/opinions
stultophobia - fear of looking stupid or foolish
atelophobia - fear of imperfection or making mistakes
